BBC Radio Cornwall Breakfast Show

On 12 March 2024, Jon Hare was invited onto the BBC Radio Cornwall Breakfast Show, to talk to James Churchfield about With Courage and how the idea of a musical to celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary came about.

With a sneak preview of the title song played, this was the first public opportunity to discuss the show, the research and visits to RNLI stations that have fed into the creative process, and to tell radio listeners about the recently-announced opening show dates at the Minack Theatre on 5 and 6 September 2024.

Jon said, “It was such a pleasure to drop in and talk to James Churchfield, live on air from Truro about the development of this new musical for the bicentenary, and the incredible lives of the RNLI communities behind the stories being told.”

Sing to Save Lives for the RNLI Bicentenary

Choir Community are teaming up with the RNLI to help them celebrate their bicentenary in 2024, with their ‘Sing to Save Lives’ campaign!

Choirs around the country are being encouraged to organise concerts around the theme of the sea, to celebrate and raise money for the RNLI, and Jon Hare was delighted to offer the title song from his new musical, With Courage, free for choirs to download and perform.

Jon said, “I’m so grateful to Craig and Piers McLeish for approaching us to arrange one of the songs from our show for this fantastic cause. Craig’s new choral arrangement sounds really special and I can’t wait to hear it sung live in concerts around the UK.”
